Cappa Run Monday 6th February 2023 – In Aid of the Dillon Quirke Foundation

On Monday 6th February our annual 10K/6K Fun Run and Walk took place. In tandem with the Fun Run we also held a long puck competition in our GAA Grounds for our adult and juvenile players. This year we as a club were delighted to pledge that all funds raised would be donated to the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

Sudden adult death syndrome (SADS) takes 100 young lives in Ireland every year. The aim of the Dillon Quirke Foundation is to raise awareness and save lives by screening every GAA player both male and female from the age of 12 upwards.

The club would like to thank all who came out to support our event. Special thanks to all our stewards who lined the route, our motor bike and electric bike 🚴 marshals, Pat & Owen in our safety cars, all our adult & Bord na nOg coaches who looked after the long puck, those who helped with event registration & refreshments afterwards.
Thanks to our MC Liam, our photographer Sean, to Joe & Kathleen & members of our club committee for the organisation. Also to Cappawhite Community Council for the use of their facilities.
Well done to the first runners home Pat Ryan (6K) & Barry Hartnett (10K). Also to the first 2 juvenile runners home – Rocco Julian & Cathal O’Neill. Amazing running 🏃
The winners of our long puck were:
Adult: Neil Clancy
U13: Fiachra Doody
U11: Ciaran Martin
U9: Harry Julian
U7: Tom Carmody
It was a fantastic day. We are very fortunate with the spirit of volunteerism & support in our community.
€2166 was raised & was donated to the Dillon Quirke Foundation
