All-Ireland Medals for Sam & Mikey Carmody

Congratulations to Sam & Mikey Carmody who were part of two All-Ireland winning teams on Thursday evening. Sam lined out at corner forward for H&MV in the Inter-Firm All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Final. Mikey was part of the UL team that won the Higher Ed All-Ireland Junior Hurling Final. Well done lads!

Match Report my Munster Inter-Firm GAA

H&MV Engineering won their first ever All-Ireland title after putting in an impressive performance to defeat Clancy/Clantech at Fethard on Thursday night.

Clancy/Clantech started the game well with a point from Seamus Callinan inside the first minute of the match. H&MV hit back with a point from Jack Fallon. Clancy/Clantech went back in front with points from Kyle Bennett and Jamie Coughlan (2). Fallon scored his second to reduce the lead. Harry Fitzgibbon scored a good point from center field to leave one point between the sides. A great goal from Seamus Callinan on 11 minutes saw Clancy/Clantech go 4 points in front. H&MV hit back immediately with a great goal from Conor Fahey. Jack Lillis fired over a good score for Clancy/Clantech to put 2 points between the side. The lead was out to 3 points on 15 minutes when Coughlan split the posts from a free. Points from Paudie McNamara, Sean O’Connor and Kieran Morris saw H&MV draw level after 20 minutes. H&MV hit the front for the first time in the match on 21 minutes with a good score from a tight angle by Sam Carmody. McNamara fired over 2 points in quick succession to open up a 3 point lead for H&MV. Callinan responded for Clancy/Clantech with a good score to make it a 2 point game. McNamara fired over his fourth point of the half to put 3 between the teams again. A decisive moment in the match on 26 minutes when a great ball from Paudie Greene put Conor Fahy through on goal and Fahy made no mistake as he rattled the back of the Clancy/Clantech net. Further points from Paul Ryan, Kieran Morris and Same Carmody opened up a 9 point lead for H&MV. Clancy/Clantech pulled a point back on 30 minutes with a good score from Kyle Bennett. H&MV Engineering 2-13 Clancy/Clantech 1-8 at half time.

Kieran Morris increased the lead with another good score on 32 minutes. John Ryan hit back for Clancy/Clantech with a good point on 33 minutes. A goal chance for H&MV on 34 minutes saw Harry Fitzgibbon denied by a very good save from Mike Ryan. A minute later there was no stopping Kieran Morris scoring a third goal for H&MV. Ryan responded with a point for Clancy/Clantech on 36 minutes. Another good save from Mike Ryan denied Sam Carmody a goal for H&MV. A great goal on the run from John Ryan gave hope to Clancy/Clantech. It was short lived when Fitzgibbon scored a fourth goal for H&MV. Clancy/Clantech kept battling to the end but there was no stopping H&MV on this night as the ran over deserving winners and All-Ireland champions for the first time.
