The recently crowned Mid U15A Champions travelled to West Tipperary and to the grounds of Cappawhite GAA Club where they took on the hosts Cappawhite Gaels in the County U15A Semi Final.
Aided by a strong 1st half breeze Durlas Óg took an early and commanding lead in this encounter with the ever present Cillian Minogue scoring 1-01 in the opening minutes to give his side a four-point advantage. Durlas Óg kept the pressure on their opponents with Ronan O’Brien and Alex Coppinger scoring. Cappawhite Gaels got their first score in on the 12th minutes courtesy of Conor Gantley but this was soon cancelled out by Coppinger. Sean O’Shea scored a free on the stroke of the water break to leave the score 1-04 to 0-02 in favour of Durlas Óg. Durlas Óg commanded the second quarter however, with the next four scores from Euan Murray, Leelan Donoghue, Keith Loughnane (65m) and Ronan O’Brien. Cappa clawed one back on the 30th minutes with Faolan Doyle pointing. 1-08 to 0-3 at the break.
The third quarter was a tighter affair with Cappa Gaels now playing with the breeze. The hosts scored first with a Conor Gantley point. Durlas Óg responded though with three of their own, Keith Loughnane, Conor Gleeson and Tristan Kelly all on target. A super Darragh O’Hara point for the Cappa Gaels reduced the cap before the aforementioned Kelly pointed on the water break, 1-12 to 0-05. Cappawhite Gaels though dominated final quarter of the contest. Sean O’Shea put two over the bar before Darragh Minogue cancelled it quickly out with two of his own. Cappa Gaels were dominating possession but unfortunately failed to make it materialise on the scoreboard. O’Shea of Cappawhite Gaels knocked over two quick frees before Darragh O’Hara got his second of the day to reduce the gap to seven. However, on the stroke of the final whistle Cillian Minogue netted to finish his day off with a great goal.
